The structure of LiZn4 − x may be understood in terms of a projection to three-dimensional space. Since the q-vector is close to 4/7, the natural choice of the supercell is sevenfold. Depending on the choice of t0 different approximants may be generated, but the refinements in three-dimensional space uniquely indicate a preference for the orthorhombic three-dimensional space group Cm2m generated by the choice t0 = 0 + n/14.
