Phase diagram of the three-dimensional ANNNI model (after Selke & Duxbury, 1984BB123). Compare this with Fig. 37[link]. Indicated are a number of commensurate phases. They are characterized by the number of spins of the same sign: 〈2333〉 is a period 11 wave with structure +,+,-,-,-,+,+,+,-,-,- etc. Close to the transition line from the para-phase (no magnetization) there are incommensurate phases.
