Two types of one-dimensional columnar units formed by OBi₄ edge-sharing tetrahedral chains in the crystal structure of Bi₃₀O₃₃(SO₄)₉(AsO₄)₂ (a projection along the direction [100] of the Niggli reduced cell): the former shows a shifted 2 × 4 cross section (ribbon 1), the latter shows a 5 × 3 cross section (ribbon 2).
