SEM images of the La0.6 sample after reduction in humid H2 at (a) 650 and (b) 675 °C. The lower images show details of the images in the first row at a higher magnification (green box). Exsolved nanoparticles decorate the perovskite surface. At 650 °C, they are smaller, with diameters ∼210 nm. Some are very regularly shaped, indicating a controlled crystal growth. On the other hand, at 675 °C, the nanoparticles are larger on average. While some retain the regular shape, with diameters of ∼270 nm, a needle-like growth set in. The longest needles are around 630 nm in length. |
