The crystal structures of (a) NaOMe, (b) NaOEt and (c) PbO (litharge). Colour key: Na violet, O red, C grey, H white and Pb blue. In part (c), the large light-green balls represent the lone pairs of the Pb2+ ions. The view direction is [100]. For a better comparison, the unit cell of NaOMe was shifted by (0, 0, [1 \over 2]) with respect to the original data of Weiss (1964BB40) and the H atoms of NaOMe were added in calculated positions (with a fourfold disorder). Drawings were made with Mercury (Macrae et al., 2020BB45).
