The current 7.5 Å map has revealed the characteristic shape of an rRNA hairpin loop. Thus, we now believe the PIP probably represents the h34 helix, which was placed somewhat further back in our 23S rRNA model. On the left side, the small box locates a position of the PIP on the surface of the 50S subunit.
