The clear peaks suggest a sixfold symmetric arrangement of protein chains in the crystal. (b) w = 0 section of the native Patterson map. In addition to the origin peak (and the crystallographically related peak at u = 0.5, v = 0.5), there are peaks at u = 0.5, v = 0 and u = 0, v = 0.5. Both maps were calculated using the CNS (Brünger et al., 1998) and CCP4 programs (Collaborative Computational Project, Number 4, 1994) and rendered using the software GROPAT (R. M.
