Interface compactness from four packing indices. The packing indices Ld, Gd, 1/Igap and Sc are calculated for the interfaces of Table 1[link]. Ld and Gd are the local and global atomic density indices of Bahadur et al. (2004BB2); Igap is the gap-volume index of Laskowski (1995BB37); Sc is the shape-complementarity score of Lawrence & Colman (1993BB38). The packing indices are normalized relative to their average value in homodimer interfaces. Crystal contacts yield values of all four indices that are less than 100, indicating that their packing is less tight than in the specific interfaces.
