(a) Structural comparison of the apo-form (cyan) and Zn2+-bound (brown) structures of the CTD of CzrB from T. thermophilus (PDB entries 3byp and 3byr; Cherezov et al., 2008BB15). Upon Zn2+ binding the CzrB CTD adopts a more compact and rigid structure. Zn2+ ions are shown in orange. The N- and C-termini are indicated. (b) Dimer structures of the apo CzrB CTD (cyan) and the apo TM0876 CTD (yellow; PDB entry 2zzt). Structural superposition suggests flexibility at the `top' of the `V-shaped' CTD in the absence of bound metal. The distance between equivalent residues in the two structures is indicated by a dashed line.
