Mosaicities have a `floor' determined by the incident X-ray beam divergence of ∼0.03°. Actual room-temperature crystal mosaicities are likely to be ∼0.01° or less. The significant scatter in values arises from crystal-size-related variations in illuminated volume and background scatter.
