Heavy-atom anomalous signal in lysozyme. (a) Halide and (b) heavy-metal anomalous signal from diffraction data collected at 100 K (first column) and at RT (second column). The anomalous difference density map (shown in blue) was calculated using ANODE (Thorn & Sheldrick, 2011BB78) and contoured at 10σ. The lysozyme protein backbone is represented as a green cartoon. The σ level was chosen to have strong visible peaks above the noise level. This figure was created using PyMOL (DeLano, 2008BB16).
