The heterodimeric building blocks assemble into higher oligomeric structures. The ratios of buried and surface-exposed areas have been calculated and are plotted for all space groups and crystal packings (Krissinel & Henrick, 2007

). Values for the dimer correspond to the assembled heterodimeric αβ chain. The hexamer comprises an assembly of three heterodimers and the dodecamer is the association of two of these six-membered rings.
