Identifying a common phase origin. The phases extracted from tomograms of three randomly oriented simulated crystals were merged. Each panel shows the relationship between the phases of reflections shared between the reference ( $[\varphi_{c_{1}}]$ ) and added ( $[\varphi_{c_{2}}]$ ) data sets before (gray) and after (red) shifting the latter to the reference origin determined by the first crystal. With each additional data set the number of reference reflections increases, while the origin remains fixed.
