Use of phase randomization for map validation applied to P22 reconstruction (Hryc et al., 2017BB30). The FSC between independent reconstructions is plotted for the original data (FSCg) and also for the same data after phase randomization at frequencies higher than 4.5 Å (FSCn). The true FSC (FSCt) represents correlations above 4.5 Å which are likely to be due to genuine signal rather than overfitted noise.
