(a) Fourier shell correlation (FSC) plots of HIV s-CANC structures determined from the five-tomogram subset of EMPIAR-10164 by AV3 (Turoňová et al., 2017  ) using a solid wedge mask and STOPGAP using CTF and exposure filtering. Both used novaCTF (Turoňová et al., 2017) for 3D CTF-corrected tomogram reconstruction with no tilt-series refinement. (b) and (c) are example isosurface representations of the AV3 and STOPGAP EM density maps, respectively. An atomic model (EMD-3782) is rigid-body fitted into both maps. (d–g) XY and XZ orthographic slices through the EM density maps determined by AV3 and STOPGAP, respectively.
