Oxidation. Top: oxidation of cysteine involves the reaction between the side-chain thiol group of cysteine and reactive oxygen species (ROS) to form cysteine sulfenic, then cysteine sulfinic acid and cysteine sulfonic acid (Supplementary Fig. S5).
