Isoform specificity. The IC₅₀ values for 50 ligands where a crystal structure was also determined in one FABP isoform are plotted on logarithmic scales and colored in shades of blue according to the ratio IC₅₀_hFABP3/(IC₅₀_hFABP4 + IC₅₀_hFABP5). The darkest shades for 7fx7 and 7g0a correspond to the ligands with the best discrimination between hFABP3 and hFABP4/5. 7fx7 has a ratio of 44.1 and the ratio for 7g0a is 31.6. 7g02 is an example of a ligand that has dual activity on hFABP3 and hFABP4 but little activity on hFABP5.
