2F_o − F_c electron-density map consistent with a bound CO₂ molecule (r.m.s.d. 0.3) next to Asp128 in subtype N9 neuraminidase (from noddy tern; PDB entry 6hfc, 1.29 Å resolution). The CO₂ molecule was refined with 0.5 occupancy, as was the neighbouring partially decarboxylated Asp128 residue (R_free = 0.164, R_work = 0.141).
