Cover illustration: While the benzofuran and 4-fluorobenzene rings in the title sulfinyl derivative, C₂₁H₁₄BrFO₂S, are co-planar, the pendent phenyl ring is almost perpendicular [dihedral angle = 81.47 (6)°,]. Unusual sulfinylsulfinyl interactions, manifested in short SO contacts [2.9623 (13) Å], feature in the crystal packing. These are connected into supramolecular centrosymmetric double chains by C-HO interactions. See: Choi, Seo & Lee [Acta Cryst. (2013). E69, o1135].
