Schematic drawing illustrating the X-ray optical path of an ellipsoidal single-bounce capillary combined with a beam stop. The produced annular X-ray beam (ring footprint) is normally incident on a planar polycrystalline sample, and a CCD detector is employed to capture diffraction images along the symmetry axis.
