organic compounds
The title compounds, 4,5-dihydro-3,5,5-trimethyl-1-[(4-methylphenyl)sulfonyl]-1H-pyrazole, C13H18N2O2S, and 1,2-bis(p-toluenesulfono)hydrazide, C14H16N2O4S2, are both obtained as byproducts in the preparation of acetone tosylhydrazone from acetone and toluenesulfonhydrazide. In the pyrazole, one of the S-O bonds is nearly eclipsed with the aryl ring [torsion angle 7.2 (2)°]. In the hydrazide, hydrogen bonding between the N-H groups and the S-O groups of the neighboring glide-related molecule [NO distances of 2.921 (5) and 2.847 (5) Å] links the molecules into chains extending along the c axis.
