2-Ethyl-3-(3-pyridyl)-5(2H)-isoxazolone

The 3-isoxazoline ring in the title compound, C₁₀H₁₀N₂O₂, adopts a flattened envelope conformation. The interplanar angle between the two ring systems is 31.71 (5)°, but the connecting single bond may indicate a certain degree of conjugation. The crystal packing is stabilized by van der Waals interactions. Some close C-H...O contacts are observed as well as stacking of the 3-isoxazoline ring system.
