The structure of strontium iron(III) pentafluoride hemihydrate, obtained by hydrothermal growth, has been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The structure contains octahedral [FeF5]n trans vertex-sharing chains, isolated [FeF5(H2O) octahedra, chains of SrF10 polyhedra sharing two opposite faces, and SrF8 isolated polyhedra.
