Isostructural Complexes of Diiodo(phthalocyaninato)germanium(IV) and Diiodo(phthalocyaninato)tin(IV)
New diiodo(phthalocyaninato-κ4)germanium(IV), [GeI2(C32H16N8)] (GePcI2, where Pc = C32H16N8), and diiodo(phthalocyaninato-κ4)tin(IV), [SnI2(C32H16N8)] (SnPcI2), complexes have been obtained. The phthalocyanine residues are centrosymmetric and are not staggered but slipped. In both cases, the phthalocyanine ring is not strictly planar. The M—I axis is tilted 1.9° in GePcI2 and 3.0° in SnPcI2 from the normal to the N4-isoindole plane. In both compounds, the metal atoms (Ge and Sn) lie on the inversion centers and are octahedrally coordinated by the four isoindole N and the two I atoms.
