In the title compound, [HgCl₂(C₁₅H₁₁N₃)], the Hg atom is coordinated by three N atoms from terpyridine, at distances of 2.372 (4), 2.396 (5) and 2.430 (5) Å, and two Cl atoms, at 2.419 (2) and 2.486 (2) Å, forming an irregular five-coordinate polyhedron.
