Carboxylate and Furan-Ring Oxygen Bonded to Calcium in Polymeric Calcium Furoate

In the structure of calcium 2-furancarboxylate, Ca²⁺.2(C₅H₃O₃)⁻, three different coordination polyhedra were found around calcium. The polyhedra are linked forming a three-dimensional polymeric molecular framework. Both carboxylate-O atoms and furan-ring-O atoms coordinate to the calcium cations, with Ca...O distances in the range 2.291 (5)–3.114 (5) Å. There are six formula units in the asymmetric unit.
