trans-Dichloro[(1RS,4RS,5SR,7RS,8SR,11SR,12RS,14SR)-5,7,12,14-tetramethyl-1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane-κ⁴N]cobalt(III) Perchlorate

The crystal and molecular structure of the title compound, [CoCl₂(C₁₄H₃₂N₄)]ClO₄, has been determined. The Co^III ion is six-coordinate with a distorted octahedral geometry consisting of the four N atoms of the macrocyclic ligand in equatorial positions and the two Cl atoms in axial positions. The quadridentate macrocyclic ligand adopts its most stable configuration, with two six-membered rings in chair conformations and two five-membered rings in gauche forms.
