The crystal structure of [Cu(NCS)(C10H8N2)2][C(CN)3] is composed of discrete [Cu(bipy)2(NCS)]+ cations and [C(CN)3]- anions (bipy is 2,2'-bipyridine). The coordination polyhedron of CuII is a distorted trigonal bipyramid with a {CuN5} chromophore.
