The minor diastereomer (
adduct) of the tertiary homoallylic alcohols, formed in the Zn-mediated reaction between 2-methyl-1-phenyl-1-propanone (isobutyrophenone) and 3-chloro-1-phenylpropene (cinnamyl chloride) in tetrahydrofuran/NH4Cl(aq), was isolated and crystallized. The structure of the title compound,C19H22O, confirms that the major and minor diastereomers of the
adduct formed in the reaction have syn and anti configurations, respectively.
