1[alpha],5[alpha]-Dihydroxymanoyl Oxide, a Novel Diterpene from Satureja gilliesii

The structure of the title diterpene, C₂₀H₃₄O₃, (8[alpha],13R-epoxylabd-14-ene-1[alpha],5[alpha]-diol), exhibits a very uncommon oxidation pattern, with two axially disposed hydroxyl substituents at C1 and C5, and five tertiary methyl groups.
