The International Union of Crystallography is launching a new open-access journal, IUCrJ , to coincide with the International Year of Crystallography in 2014. The journal aims to attract high-profile articles in a wide range of subject areas related to crystallography and structural science.

The five main subject areas covered by the journal are:

Biology and Medicine

Physics and Free Electron Laser Science and Technology
Main Editor: John Spence, Arizona State University, USA
