2D Sections of the Fermi surfaces of quasi-one-dimensional crystals. (a) Non-interacting metallic chains parallel to [0 0 1] with (k1,k2,0) describing [{\bf k}] vectors perpendicular to the chains. (b) Weakly interacting metallic chains resulting in a warping of the Fermi surface. Perfect nesting is obtained for [{\bf q}] = (0,1/2,q3), where q3 assumes the value such that [{\bf q}] fulfills the nesting condition. Notice that the second half of the Fermi surface is nested by [{\bf q}'] = [{\bf q}-{\bf b}^*], which is equivalent to [{\bf q}].
