Linear arrays of alternating heterochiral OC (a) and OH (b) dimers. In each ribbon, three heterochiral dimers are joined by two homochiral dimers of opposite type. In the crystalline state they polymerize into antiparallel or parallel helices. The antiparallel helices with opposite chirality [observed in 8C and III (Kálmán et al., 2001BB15)] are linked by heterochiral dimers (c) and (d).
