View along [010] of the crystal structure at 120 K of (5)·2Py. Molecules from the neighbouring (010) layers are related by pseudotranslation. Packing in the crystal structure determined at 180 K is nearly identical except for the symmetry increase from pseudo- to true lattice translation. The highlighted area illustrates the solvent channel propagating along the [010] direction with pyridine molecules engaged in pairwise face-to-face π-stacking interactions and the spacer fragments. (bottom) Side view illustrating the resemblance of the observed pyridine channel to the trans-gauche type of the solvent channels formed by some bile-acid hosts. |
