Packing of molecules of (6), as viewed along the twofold axis (b = 7.727 Å). Steroid triads are disposed around the twofold axis and are arranged in (010) layers, with molecules in the neighbouring layers shifted by approximately half of the unit translation in both the a and c directions. The figure is a projection of two consecutive layers. All ester groups, either constituting the side chain or the linker, are concentrated in the same region, i.e. around lattice points 0, y, ½ and ½, ½ + y, ½ (highlighted area).
