As-grown Li6La3ZrTaO12 crystal. Strong evaporation of Li-containing species from the melt, and possibly also from the crystal, cause serious corrosion of the growing crystal, especially in its upper, first-grown part (left side in the photograph). Most affected is the seed crystal that usually breaks during cooling down to room temperature. Growth direction close to [100].
