The layered structure of (III) projected along [100]. Layers of CuO6 polyhedra parallel to (001) are separated by layers of eight-coordinated Rb atoms (large spheres). Oxalate groups link these units together in different directions (see Comment text). Only the stronger Rb—O bonds (those less than 3.1 Å) are shown. The unit cell is outlined.
