A superposition of the mol­ecular conformations of the lenalidomide mol­ecules of (I)[link] and (II)[link] with thalidomide. The overlay was made by making a least-squares fit through the isoindolinone ring system of (I)[link]. The labels and r.m.s deviations (Å) are as follows: mol­ecule A of (II)[link] [labelled (IIA)[link]] 0.019; mol­ecule B of (II)[link] [labelled (IIB)[link]] 0.020; thalidomide α form (labelled 3) 0.028; thalidomide β form 2 (labelled 4) 0.035.
