Comparison of symmetric (PDB entry 3lr2) and asymmetric (this study) EaNT dimers. (a) Cartoon showing symmetric (plum and gold) and asymmetric (light green and tan) dimers superimposed using chain A of PDB entry 3lr2 and chain E of the asymmetric EaNT dimer (side view). The subunit orientation in the two dimers differs by 7° (obtained by finding the rotation required to superimpose the misaligned 3lr2B and EaNTF subunits in the superimposed dimers). The rotation axis is roughly perpendicular to the view and is located close to one of the poles of the dimer (the lower pole in the figure). (b) Top view of the structures superimposed as in (a).
