Three-dimensional wire map of the Laplacian of the electron density in the vicinity of the water mol­ecule, at ±0.25 e−/Å5 level. The positive isosurfaces (green) show where electron density depletion occurs (valence-atomic orbital regions), while negative isosurfaces (red) show regions where electron density accumulates (bonding-electrons energy densities). The map was calculated on a 0.05 Å grid in real space and was generated with OLEX2 (Dolomanov et al., 2009BB4).
