Derived model of the cubic diamond structure in projection along the [Mathematical equation11] direction, together with the graph for the 222 reflection. As can be seen from the contribution of the scattering atoms on the fcc lattice (dark grey) and the half-occupied tetrahedral sites (green atoms), the resulting structure-factor amplitude is zero. This is consistent with the experimental pattern shown in Fig. 9[link] and proves the correctness of the determined structure model.
