A bootstrapped nearest-neighbour-joining phylogenetic tree of glutaryl-CoA dehydrogenases from a selection of eukaryotic (black), archaeal (red) and aerobic (cyan) bacterial species, plus one prokaryotic obligate anaerobe (green). A subtree for B. pseudomallei (underlined) and other related prokaryotes is well supported within eukaryota and is suggestive of lateral gene transfer. The alignment was performed using ClustalX2 v.2.0 (Chenna et al., 2003BB6).
