Figure 1
Characterization of the hydrodynamic properties of the ParE2–PaaA2 complex. (a) Analytical gel filtration shows that the ParE2–PaaA2 complex elutes as a single peak at 13.05 ml, corresponding to a molecular weight of 140 kDa and a hydrodynamic radius of 4.81 nm. The inset shows an SDS–PAGE (15% gel) analysis of the elution peak, which clearly demonstrates that both PaaA2 and ParE2 are present in the complex. (b) DLS measurements performed under the same conditions as the analytical gel-filtration experiment confirm that the ParE2–PaaA2 preparations contain a single particle with (within error limits) identical hydrodynamic properties.
