The K68S mutation in the BKPyV VP1 changes the glycan specificity from the GD3 to the GM1 glycan. Top three spectra: GD3 1H reference spectrum, wild-type BKPyV VP1–GD3 glycan STD-NMR difference spectrum and K68S mutant BKPyV VP1–GD3 STD-NMR difference spectrum. Bottom four spectra: GM1 1H reference spectrum, SV40 VP1–GM1 glycan STD-NMR difference spectrum, K68S mutant BKPyV VP1–GM1 STD-NMR difference spectrum and wild-type BKPyV VP1–GM1 glycan STD-NMR difference spectrum. HDO and methyl-group signals were truncated. NMR spectra were recorded at 283 K and re-referenced to 298 K; the STD saturation time was 2 s. |
