A plot of correlated integrated intensity chi-squared, [\chi _{{\rm Intensity}}^{\,2}], versus the number of SA moves for 80 structure solution attempts on a single FFB data set collected to 1.5 Å. The target value of [\chi _{{\rm Intensity}}^{\,2}] for a successful structure solution is ca 100. Some structures are solved in <1 million moves, while others take >3 million moves and some runs become trapped in false minima (the two plateau regions at [\chi _{{\rm Intensity}}^{\,2}] ca 175 and 350). For this series of runs, T0 was set to 30, the cooling rate was 0.02 and the exponential sampling method was used.
