Neutron diffraction patterns collected upon warming ice II through the transition to ice Ic at 160 K (room pressure). The strongest ice Ic Bragg peaks are marked with asterisks and their Miller indices. Data were collected in the TiZr pressure cell; each pattern was counted for 25 min in the HRPD 90° banks. No evidence for large-scale amorphization of the sample prior to ice Ic crystallization was observed.
