Two more active gauges were present on the hidden side of the vessel in this diagram. The arrows indicate schematically the loads produced by the confining pressure. Top right: the Wheatstone bridge configuration used for each strain-gauge circuit. Bottom: the circumferential and axial strains as a function of pressure. The results show initial yielding of the pressure vessel at about 185 MPa.
