The bright spot at the centre of the Fourier transform (FT) of the photograph directly corresponds to the F(0, 0, 0) spot in the diffraction pattern. The diffraction pattern of a crystal is composed of peaks as a result of the periodicity of the crystal (top), whereas the photograph is a `single' object: its FT is `continuous' (bottom). |
