This measurement concerns a side-chain liquid-crystal polymer (PAXY spectrometer, LLB, CEA Saclay; Noirez & Lapp, 1997). The sample is sheared in a device which produces the shadow in the upper part. Because of the shearing the scattering is tilted. Therefore a general tilt has been applied to the functions in the model, a Lorentz–Lorentz function for the polymer and a power law to take into account the scattering from a few catalytic particles. However, this fit was not satisfactory. A two-dimensional representation of the difference between the data and the model (Fig. 4) helped in understanding the problem. |
