Sketch of the two most often employed scattering geometries in magnetic SANS experiments. (a) [{\bf k}_0 \perp {\bf H}_0]; (b) [{\bf k}_0 \parallel {\bf H}_0]. We emphasize that in both geometries the applied-field direction [{\bf H}_0] defines the [{\bf e}_z] direction of a Cartesian laboratory coordinate system. The angle θ specifies the orientation of the scattering vector on the two-dimensional detector; θ is measured between [{\bf H}_0 \parallel {\bf e}_z] and [{\bf q} \cong (0, q_y, q_z)] (a) and between [{\bf e}_x] and [{\bf q} \cong (q_x, q_y, 0)] (b).
